1. The argument in this painting is about the precious bond mother and child feel. This painting’s argument regards the connection, love, and care that a mother feels for her baby, while capturing deep emotion.
2. The audience would be any woman seeking to bear child, pregnant mothers, or mothers with infants. The audience would be women aged around twenty to forty.
3. This painting’s goal would be to display the joy and harmony that can come from having a child. By demonstrating the pleasure that can come from experiencing motherhood, the goal is to instill a desire or yearning to be a mother.
4. This painting’s persuasion is done through pathos (emotion). It depicts the love and adornment a mother feels for her child. It is relevant to the audience because most women have a desire to become mothers. Part of our roles as women, is motherhood or raising children.
5. This painting is effective because of the emotion involved. The mother’s loving facial expression, the way she is carefully cradling him, and the focus on the mother and child are all done to effectively reach the goal, argument, and audience. And its most effective aspect is its simple composition.
