1. The argument in this song is that Taylor Swift is in love with a boy that loves somebody else. He goes to her to express his love for some other girl. This friendship of theirs gets harder and harder for her because she constantly hears about this other girl.
2. The target audience in this video is intended for any girl who has ever loved someone that didn’t love them back or anyone that could relate to this situation in particular. Another target audience could be boys that don’t pay attention to obvious signs of love!
3. The goal would be to express emotions of helpless romance. Another goal would be to portray the difficulty in communicating feelings towards another person and dealing with rejection.
4. This is done through use of pathos (emotion) being that everyone has desires love and be loved in return. There is no logic in this situation. Love is entirely emotional and expressed differently by every person. This is the typical love situation and reaction when a person loves someone and is scared to let them know.
5. This is an effective music video because of the music, lyrics, and acted story.
